Abhay Bhutada Foundation Brings Shivsrushti Closer to the Public Through Affordable Access

The chance to explore India’s historical past is now within reach for many more people, thanks to a new initiative made possible by the Abhay Bhutada Foundation. In a thoughtful step toward cultural inclusion, the Foundation has donated ₹51 lakhs to Shivsrushti, a theme park in Pune that celebrates the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As a result, visitors can now experience the park’s exhibits at a reduced rate of just ₹50 between May 15 and July 15, 2025.

Encouraging More People to Connect with History

The initiative stands out for its clear intent—making historical education more affordable for everyone. Students, families, and history lovers often find it difficult to afford entry to cultural landmarks. With this donation, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation ensures that price will no longer be an obstacle.

This move reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to education, community participation, and meaningful public access. It shows how even a temporary subsidy can expand learning opportunities for thousands of visitors.

A Place Built to Inspire Learning

Shivsrushti is more than a theme park—it is a structured environment created to transport visitors to the 17th century. Spread across 21 acres, it presents Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life through thoughtfully designed exhibits. The park was envisioned by Babasaheb Purandare and built to offer a deep understanding of Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership, military planning, and governance.

The ₹51 lakh donation by the Abhay Bhutada Foundation is directed specifically toward subsidising ticket rates during the summer period, making it the ideal time for students and families to plan a trip.

Technology and History Come Together

Shivsrushti uses technology to create immersive experiences that educate while keeping visitors engaged. Among its most popular features is the Time Machine Theatre, which allows people to witness key events from Shivaji Maharaj’s life using holograms, mapping visuals, and physical effects.

Other sections include:

  • Durg Vaibhav, focused on the strategic art of fort building.

  • Ranangan, which depicts important battles fought under Shivaji Maharaj’s command.

  • Shrimant Yogi, offering a look at his inner beliefs and spiritual discipline.

  • Sinhasanadhishwar, showcasing his coronation and the reforms he brought in.

Visitors can also see a replica of the Tulja Bhavani temple, stroll along the Ganga Sagar lake, and admire rare artwork that tells the Maratha warrior’s story through visual representations.

Simplified Ticketing and Visitor Comfort

To ensure ease of access and control crowd flow, all tickets during the ₹50 subsidised period will be sold exclusively online through Shivsrushti’s official website. This decision is meant to offer a convenient experience for visitors while keeping the venue safe and manageable.

The park’s air-conditioned setting allows families and large groups to explore each section at a comfortable pace, regardless of outside weather conditions. This attention to comfort reflects the larger goal of making historical learning pleasant and hassle-free.

Staying True to Babasaheb Purandare’s Vision

Jagdish Kadam, Chairman of Shivsrushti, noted that the entire theme park was designed in line with historian Babasaheb Purandare’s dream of making history accessible. It was never meant to be just a tourist spot, but rather a knowledge-driven space that encourages reflection and awareness.

He acknowledged that contributions from individuals like Abhay Bhutada are essential in reaching a wider audience. The Abhay Bhutada Foundation’s donation directly supports this vision and makes sure that more people can engage with the heritage Shivsrushti brings alive.

Ongoing Commitment to Culture and Learning

The Abhay Bhutada Foundation has long been involved in efforts that focus on social impact. Its work spans areas such as student support, community development, and cultural awareness. This partnership with Shivsrushti adds another meaningful project to its list.

Through this donation, the Foundation is helping break down barriers that prevent everyday citizens from accessing educational and cultural resources. It highlights how targeted philanthropic action can enhance public life without requiring massive infrastructure changes.

Leading by Example

When individuals and organisations take steps to reduce the cost of educational experiences, they contribute to a stronger and more informed society. The Shivsrushti initiative shows how well-planned donations can have a direct, measurable impact.

Abhay Bhutada, through his Foundation, has shown how responsible philanthropy can enrich communities. By simply making tickets affordable, the initiative opens the door for learning that might have otherwise been out of reach for many families.

Conclusion

This effort is not just about ticket prices or visitor numbers. It is about showing that history, when made accessible, can reach hearts and minds across all age groups. The Abhay Bhutada Foundation has succeeded in building a path that connects citizens with a leader whose story still shapes ideas of courage, leadership, and governance.

By making Shivsrushti more accessible, the Foundation has allowed this generation to connect with history in a way that feels personal and real. For many first-time visitors, this will be more than just a day out—it will be a memory, a lesson, and perhaps the start of a lifelong interest in the values Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj stood for.
